The Answer is Never! - Art Style Changes

As you will see in this video when I started working on this "skateboarding game" I defaulted to creating the artwork in a realistic style using PBR materials and textures. It wasn't until taking a break and some months later that I started to really flesh out the idea better. Once I did I realized the theme and story would be much better suited by a stylized and vibrant art style. My goal of chasing realism on the project was out the door. Being an artist I love to just start creating art, it's what I know best. It was a mistake mostly for rookies to game development and not seasoned veterans. I'm working smartly this year and creating systems, mechanics, and prototyping using proxy 3D meshes and placeholder materials and textures. Any artwork I create now that is near polished will be for web site and blog imagery.
